Alexandra Pellillo

Alexandra Pellillo

GLS Specialist-Silicon Valley

Alexandra has an MA in TESOL and Teaching a Foreign Language (Spanish) from New York University. From 2017–2021, Alexandra worked as a Global Teaching Fellow at Tokyo International University (TIU) where she worked with students from up to 60 different countries. Prior to TIU, she worked as an education consultant at Sesame Workshop and as a language teacher in public schools in New York City, Japan, and France. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading history books, studying languages, and exploring new food scenes.

Allen Zhang

Allen is majoring in project management at Northeastern University in Seattle. Previously, he completed a BA in Hospitality Business Management at Washington State University. As the GLS Ambassador, Allen supports Global Learner Support by leading events, assisting in administrative tasks, and collaborating with student ambassadors on other regional campuses. Outside of school, Allen enjoys traveling, working out, and nature.

Claire is both an avid learner and teacher/tutor. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an MS in Education, the University of Illinois (BA), and the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA). Claire is an excellent resource for ways to find success in higher education. Her hobbies include travel, reading, and music.

Deniz Toker

Deniz Toker

GLS Specialist-Toronto

Deniz has more than a decade of experience in teaching English at all levels. He has an MA in TESOL and a BA in English Linguistics. He also obtained a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from Cambridge Assessment English. Deniz is a practitioner and a passionate advocate of Culturally Responsive Teaching and Mindfulness. He loves doing yoga, hiking, and trying new recipes in the kitchen.

Fei Fei

Tutor

Fei received her PhD in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University. Her research interests include second language learning and teaching, vocabulary acquisition, and task-based language teaching. Fei taught for the TESOL master’s program at the University of Indianapolis. She also taught various levels in China and in the U.S. Fei speaks Mandarin, English, and German.

Jacob Ayala

Instructor & Tutor

Jacob is an aspiring educator who enjoys working with ESL/international students. He graduated from CSU, Sacramento with an MA in TESOL, and has taught freshmen-level composition at CSU, Sacramento. Jacob also has three years of tutoring experience as an instructional assistant (IA) at Cosumnes River College (CRC), where he assisted native English speakers and ESL learners from various countries, including China, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Mexico. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, creative writing (poetry & short stories), and studying European Portuguese.

Jeremy Walter

Jeremy is responsible for developing, managing, and leading language, academic, career, and cultural support services on Northeastern University’s regional campuses. Additionally, he serves as faculty for GLS and the Global Pathways program on the Seattle campus. Jeremy has a Doctorate in Education, an MA in Applied Linguistics & TESOL, and a BA in English Studies. He enjoys traveling, learning new languages, and playing the piano.

Richard Landowski

Richard Landowski

Tutor

Richard holds a BA from Seattle University with a major in French and a minor in history. He has tutored English and French for a wide variety of learners as well as taught high school and middle school English in France. He is passionate about medieval history, (almost) anything music-related, and language. He is currently learning Spanish.

Ruth MacKechnie

Ruth MacKechnie

Instructor & Tutor

Ruth is passionate about working with students and has taught ESL for over 30 years. She has run programs in Japan, Spain, England, New Zealand, Canada, and the U.S. Ruth has an MA in Education from the Open University in the U.K., a Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults from Cambridge University, and two BAs from the University of Washington. She values music, travel, and time with her family.
